Burn

In that moment she saw everything
She saw the world
She saw every person who had hurt her
Every person she had hurt
And everyone who desired to feel enough to be hurt
And she gathered in her thoughts
All those observations
Every memory of pain she had ever recalled
She hung them to dry, as wet with tears as they were
And she rolled them together like kindling
Striking a match on her heart she burned every one
And let the smoke fill her breath and lungs
As she let the hot air burn her inside
She no longer wished to feel those flames
And when the smoke coiled into the open sky
Released from her breath to the heavens
She no longer felt the need to hold onto them
Anymore
